I was super excited to be quoted in the Nov/Dec 2012 issue of Oxygen magazine in Australia! It’s a great magazine that deals with women’s health and fitness; I was talking about the mind/body connection in regards to a hybrid workout called Koga Fitness, which is kickboxing combined with yoga. “Downward Dog, Upward Fog” is chick lit for the spiritual set. Although fiction, it’s what I fondly refer to as “nonfiction” fiction, meaning it is written with such an element of truth that it could be true. There are also practices mentioned that you may choose to adopt and integrate into your daily life, making for an inspiring & invigorating read. (One of my favorites that I picked up: consciously acknowledging whether your first breath of the day was an inhale or an exhale. Nothing like mindfulness first thing in the morning!)
The New York Restoration Project (NYRP), a non profit founded by Bette Midler, has partnered with Harlem Yoga Studio and Brooklyn Holistics to provide free outdoor yoga classes to New Yorkers. Held in community gardens, these classes start in May and will run through September. Read more
